This fanlisting is devoted to the disaster movie genre. You might be asking yourself exactly what the disaster movie genre is and it can be an ambiguous genre at best but one of the most entertaining.
In simple terms a disaster movie is a movie that has an impending or ongiong disaster: whether it be the world in peril or a city under siege. Disaster movies typically focus on people's attempts to avert, escape, or cope with the aftermath of a disaster.
This genre personally is one of my favourites. The amazing special effects and adrenaline packed action that comes with the territory. The human face of tragedy, strength of the human spirit and heroisism that people have in them which only surfaces in the most diar of circumstances, all of this is a big part of what sets this genre apart from the others.
There have been many disaster films made over the years and to list them all would take too long, so here are some of my favourites: Armageddon, Dante's Peak, The Day After Tomorrow, Deep Impact, Independence Day, The Core, The Poseidon Adventure, Titanic, Volcano and War of the Worlds.
